history

The area around the city is considered to be an old settlement area; the kingdom of Mitanni , the Urartians , Assyrians and Hurrites ruled over it. In 1054 the area fell to the Seljuks and in 1514 to the Ottomans .

The new administrative structure allocated Beytüşşebap to the province of Erzurum in 1855, and it was incorporated into Van ten years later. The affiliation of the district town also changed several times in the 20th century until it was finally incorporated into the newly created province of Sirnak in 1990 .
