Bhargavaea is a genus of bacteria. She belongs to the Gram-positive group of Firmicutes . The type species Bhargavaea cecembensis was isolated from a sediment sample in the deep sea of the Chagos-Laccadiv ridge in the Indian Ocean at a depth of 5904 m.
features
All types are grief positive. They have no flagella and are therefore immobile. The shape is rod-shaped, like that of Bhargavaea cecembensis , to almost cocci-shaped in B. beijingensis and B. ginsengi . The cells occur singly, in pairs, or in short chains. The cells of B. cecembensis have sizes of 1 micron in width and 2.0-8.0 microns in length. The cells of the almost cocci-shaped species B. beijingensis have a size of 1 μm × 1.2 μm, those of the species B. ginsengis 1.0 μm in width and 1.2 μm up to 2.0 μm in length. The species B. beijingensis grows with NaCl values of 0 - 8%, B. ginsengi still tolerates values of up to 12%. The optimal temperature for growth for B. beijingensis and B. ginsengi is 30 ° C. At Bhargavaea cecembensis it is 37 ° C. The Voges-Proskauer test is negative for the species Bhargavaea cecembensis , B. beijingensis and B. ginsengi .
