Bathinda ( Punjabi : ਬਠਿੰਡਾ) is a city ( Municipal Corporation ) in the Indian state of Punjab with about 286,000 inhabitants (2011 census) and since 1953 the capital of the district of the same name .
The Qila Mubarak Fort is an almost 2000 year old monument in the city center. Bathinda has one of the largest railway hubs in Asia, via which it is connected to the neighboring cities of Mandi Dabwali , Kalanwali , Mansa , Rampura Phul , Malout and Faridkot . It lies at the intersection of the national highways NH 15 and NH 64 . 54% of the population are male.
