Białobrzegi is a district of Krosno in the Powiat Krośnieński of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland .

history

According to Adam Fastnacht , the village existed as an ethnic Polish settlement before 1340, in the time of the principality of Halych-Volodymyr , and after the occupation of the western edge of Red Ruthenia , the town of Krosno was founded on the village grounds. The place was first mentioned in 1410 as Palverzee , which was considered by many researchers with Adam Fastnacht as the German name of the village, but this could be a mistake in the copy from the 15th century, and this mention was made by Kazimierz Rymut called unreliable. After that the place was mentioned as Byalebrzegky (1473), Byalyebrzegy (1474), Bialy Brzegy (1491), Byalobrzegi (1523), Brzegybyale (1530), Byalobrzegi (1532), Białobrzegi (1637). The place name is of Polish origin (even the Ruthenian form Bjalobžehy shows Polish characteristics) and literally means White Bank (plural). The settlement was a suburb of Krosno downstream on the Wisłok and was then partially inhabited by Forest Germans, but the proportion of German population was small or difficult to determine.

The village initially belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Ruthenian Voivodeship , Sanok region . During the First Partition of Poland , Białobrzegi came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). From 1855 Białobrzegi belonged to the Krosno District .

After the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Habsburg Monarchy , Białobrzegi came to Poland in 1918. Białobrzegi was incorporated as a district of Krosnos in 1925.
