Library of German Football

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Library of German Football is a series of books about German football clubs . It has been published since 2015.

The book series

The publisher of the volumes is the author and football journalist Frank Willmann . They appear in the Berlin publishing house Culturcon medien . The titles called “football primers” are written “by fans for fans”. “Always close to the action, they describe legends, tales of suffering and heroes with a passionate heart. Straightforward and honest, ”the editor characterizes the authors. For the sports journalist Andreas Rüttenauer , the series is "mercilessly subjective, it is the fan curve of football literature."

Lower-class clubs are also included in the series; the BSG Chemie Leipzig played to the publishing time 2016 sechstklassig. The first volumes dealt with East German associations. With Volume 9 on 1. FC Nürnberg , the first West German club was taken into account and Volume 11 deals with 1. FC Köln for the first time, a club that was playing in the Bundesliga at the time of publication .

In 2019 the first four volumes of the library of Austrian football appeared in the same format. It is edited by Thomas Pöltl, founder of the First Austrian Football Library in Vienna, and Frank Willmann. In 2020, Volume 1 of the football primer international series, also published by Willmann, followed with the same equipment .
