The Bibra is a 12.7 km long orographically left tributary of the Jüchse in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen , southern Thuringia . It runs north via Wolfmannshausen , Queienfeld , Rentwertshausen , Bibra and Wölfershausen and flows above Ritschenhausen .
The Bibra takes up about 40% of the catchment area of the Jüchse, at its mouth its catchment area with 41.5 km² compared to 52.1 km² is only slightly smaller than that of its receiving water. To the west, south and east the catchment area of the Bibra is enclosed by that of the Main , which is why it significantly shifts the Rhine-Weser watershed locally to the south. One of its tributaries is the 4 km long Röste, which flows into Bibra from the right .
