Bical (in Portuguese : sourling ) is an autochthonous white wine variety from Portugal.

distribution

It is recommended to grow them in the regions of Trás-os-Montes , Beira Litoral , Beira Interior Sul , Beira Interior Norte , Alentejo and the Azores . It is approved in the Douro , Ribatejo and Oeste areas . At the end of the 1990s, the forested area was around 1,336 hectares .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

  • The shoot tip is open. It is hairy white wool with a slight carmine red tinge. The young leaves are slightly woolly hairy.
  • The medium-sized leaves are three-lobed and slightly curved (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is closed. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are set closely in comparison to the grape varieties.
  • The cylindrical grape is medium-sized, shouldered and loose berries. The oval berries are small to medium-sized and almost white-yellow in color.
  • Maturity : early - about 20 days after the Gutedel .

Wine

The wine made from the early-ripening variety is acidic and fruity. It can therefore be used both as a blend wine or as a base wine in sparkling wines .
