Big Falls is located in northern Minnesota not far from the Canadian border on the Big Fork River , a tributary of the Rainy River . The place is at 48 ° 11'28 "north latitude, 93 ° 48'24" west longitude and extends over 15.7 km².

Neighboring locations to Big Falls are Grand Falls (on the opposite bank of the Big Fork River), Littlefork (33.1 km northeast), and Margie (15.5 km southwest).
