Littlefork is a small town (with the status " City ") in Koochiching County in northern US -amerikanischen state of Minnesota . In 2010 Littlefork had 647 residents.

Littlefork is located in northern Minnesota not far from the Canadian border on the Little Fork River , a tributary of the Rainy River . The place is at 48 ° 23'56 "north latitude, 93 ° 33'21" west longitude and extends over 3.08 km².

history

In the late 19th century, the first white settlers came to the region and settled along the Little Fork River, as the rivers were the only transport links at the time. Logging and the associated processing was the most important branch of the economy at that time.

In 1904, residents' desire was presented to the appropriate county and state authorities to form a separate municipality. The request was granted and the Village of Littlefork was incorporated. In 1974 Littlefork was given the only "City" status for all independent municipalities in Minnesota.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , Littlefork had 647 people in 258 households. The population density was 210.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.33 people lived in each of the 258 households.

The racial the population was composed of 99.1 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American and 0.2 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.3 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.6 percent of the population.
