Bilow is the name of an old noble family from West Pomerania with the parent company of the same name, Bilow near Loitz in West Pomerania.

The family is not to be confused with the von Bibow , von Below or von Bülow family . Branches of the sex persist now.

history

The sex appears for the first time in a document in the years 1320-1325 with Hinricus Bylowe and Dominus Hermannus de Bylowe . The uninterrupted line of trunks begins in 1387 with Radeke von Bilow on Bilow .

Members of the family have served with distinction in the Swedish , Prussian and Danish military.

The family coat of arms shows three transverse, silver axes in red, the irons turned to the right and downwards. On the crowned helmet with red and silver covers, two upward sloping silver axes.
