Extraction and presentation

Biphenyl-4,4'-diol can be obtained by diazotization of benzidine and boiling , dealkylation of tetra tert -butylphenol, by dehydrogenation of 4,4-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexanol or by hydrogenation of 3.3 ', 5.5 '-Tetra- tert -butyl-diphenoquinone are obtained.

use

Biphenyl-4,4'-diol is used in the production of polyether - liquid crystals and plastics. It is also used as an antioxidant for rubber and latex .
