Birawa (Polish Bierawa ) is a Polish village in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski in the Opole Voivodeship . Birawa is the seat of the rural community of the same name and is the second largest town with around 1500 inhabitants.

history

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 516 eligible voters voted to remain with the German Reich and 290 for Poland. In the Dobrau estate, 80 people voted for the German Empire and nine for Poland. Dobrau remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 1,753 inhabitants. On May 8, 1936, the place was renamed Reigersfeld . In 1939 the place had 2,027 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .

In 1945 the place came under Polish administration, was renamed Bierawa and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On April 23, 2007, German was introduced as the second official language in the Birawa community. On January 10, 2011, the place was also given the official German place name Birawa .

Attractions

The Holy Trinity Church was built in the second half of the 16th century in the style of the High Renaissance. The Church was initially Protestant and has been Catholic since the 17th century. It has been a parish church since 1915.

The village is located on Voivodeship Road 425. This begins not far from Bierawa as a junction from Voivodeship Road 408 and leads south to Kuźnia Raciborska .
