The Birkenkopf is a mountain in the Lower Spessart near Kahl am Main in the Aschaffenburg district in Lower Franconia . With a height of only 120 m above sea level. NHN , the Birkenkopf is the lowest mountain in Bavaria .
geography
The Birkenkopf is located in the district of Kahl am Main northeast of Emmerichshofen between the state road 2305 and the federal highway 45 in the southern part of the Bulau ( Emmerichshofer Wald ). The state border with Hesse runs about 930 m northwest of the Birkenkopf .
The birch head rises from its surroundings by about 6 m. In the east, the terrain rises slightly to the foothills of the Altenmarkskopf (269 m).
history
The Birkenkopf is probably an old shifting dune that has been overgrown with beech and pine trees since the 19th century .
