The Birkholm-Posten was a Danish motor ship that served the Marstal - Birkholm ferry route from 1976 to 2006 .

The ferry route is Denmark's smallest post ship connection and was operated by the Marstal port administration.

History and traffic

The ship was procured on the initiative of Birkholms-båden I / S , founded in 1976 . The ferry was built at Ejvinds Plasticjolle- og Bådeværft in Rantzausminde near Svendborg and delivered that same year. The hull was made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic .

When it was in use, the boat traveled the route four times a day in summer and twice a day in winter. The crossing took 25 minutes.

From November 24, 2006, the ship Birkholmposten took over the ferry route.

Regarding the cessation of traffic with this boat, the register of 3 November 2006 contains the entry that the boat was deleted from the register due to "business liquidation " ( Danish Ophør med erhverv ).
