The Biryusa River ( Russian Бирюса , also called "Great Biryusa River" or Bolshaya Biryusa River ( Большая Бирюса ), German also Birjusa , in the lower reaches also Она / Ona ) is the 1012 km long left and southwestern source river of Taseyeva River in Siberia , the Asian part of Russia .
The river arises in the extreme southwest of the Irkutsk Oblast from several source rivers on the northern flank of the Juglym ridge (tributary of the Eastern Sayan ; height in the headwaters up to 2535 m ). From its source, located northeast of the source of the Uda , the Birjussa flows north into the Central Siberian mountainous region , which is up to 530 m high along the river . It runs about 10 km northwest of Taischet and among other things through Sitkino .
