Bisera Suljić-Boškailo (born January 9, 1965 in Tutin , Serbia ) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian writer .

biography

Bisera Boškailo studied Serbo-Croatian language and literature in Sarajevo and Mostar as well as German language and literature in Eichstätt . She did her doctorate in German literature. From 2008 to 2018 she taught German literature in Sarajevo, Mostar, Bihac (Bosnia) and Novi Pazar (Serbia), and at the International University of Novi Pazar she also headed the Chair of German Studies . She translated u. a. Michael Krüger , Wolfgang Borchert and Paul Maar to Bosnian. Some of her works have been translated into German, Turkish, English and Albanian. The novel “Pešter” was chosen as school reading in Serbia. A dissertation was written on her novels at Belgrade University . The Bosnian writer Sead Mahmutefendić wrote a monograph about her and her works in 2018 : “Bisera's pearls. The hunter of dreams ”.

She published many works in Bosnia and Serbia and works as a journalist. As a poet she has received several awards, including the prestigious Antun-Branko-Šimić Prize. Her novel “Bilija” was awarded the prize for the best manuscript in Serbia in 2009. The novel "Karakondzula" was named Novel of the Year 2013 in Bosnia.

Bisera Boškailo lives as a freelance writer and journalist in Ingolstadt and Sarajevo.
