use

Bisphenol FL is a substitute for bisphenol A and is widely used as a plasticizer for polycarbonate and epoxy resins .

The reaction of bisphenol FL with phthalic acid chlorides produces a polymer from the polyarylate family .

toxicology

In 2017, Chinese researchers found bisphenol FL to have an anti-estrogenic effect. It was released in very small amounts (up to 81.47 ng · l −1 ) from polycarbonate drinking bottles .
