Bisphenols
Bisphenols are a group of chemical compounds that carry two (therefore “ bi ” or “ bis ”) hydroxyphenyl groups (“ phenol ”). Bisphenol is thus a common name. The following letters mostly refer to one of the starting materials . Colloquially, the best-known representative of this group, bisphenol A, is simply called "bisphenol".
construction
Most of the representatives are derived from di- or triphenylmethane and have a central carbon atom. Bisphenol S, P and M are the exceptions: bisphenol S has a central S chwefel atom to which bisphenols M and P are compounds with a central benzene ring to which in m eta - or p ara position two alkyl phenols are linked .
