Bistensee is a part of the municipality of Ahlefeld-Bistensee and is located in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Baumgarten, Poggensiek, Dixrade and Bistensee-Mühle are in the local area.
Bistensee was an independent municipality until February 29, 2008. On March 1, 2008, it merged with the neighboring municipality of Ahlefeld to form the new municipality of Ahlefeld-Bistensee .
Geography and traffic
The district is located about 13 km southeast of Schleswig , 12 km southwest of Eckernförde and 15 km north of Büdelsdorf on state road 206 in the Hüttener mountains . The federal highway 7 runs southwest from Bordesholm to Schleswig and to the north the federal highway 76 runs from Schleswig to Kiel .
From 1904 to 1954 the place had a train station on the Eckernförde – Owschlag railway line of the Eckernförde district railways. The Baumgarten train station with its inn made the Baumgarten district known nationwide: in the 1930s as an excursion destination and local recreation area and from the 1980s to 1992 for the discotheque located there .
history
Bistensee was first mentioned in 1142 and appears in the Gottorp official register in 1542. The place name is probably derived from the word rush.
After the Second World War, there was a wire radio station in the municipality, through which a reporter, who had previously worked for the Sender Freies Berlin , broadcast a varied local program.
economy
The place is predominantly agricultural. Tourism is also an important source of income.
In the local area there is a swimming area and a guest house for events.
