The diocese of Kohima ( lat. : Dioecesis Kohimaensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Kohima .

history

The diocese of Kohima was on January 29, 1973 by Pope Paul VI. from the cession of territory by the diocese of Dibrugarh as the diocese of Kohima-Imphal . On March 28, 1980, the diocese of Kohima-Imphal was divided into the dioceses of Kohima and Imphal . The diocese of Kohima was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Imphal as a suffragan in 1995 .

1986-1991 the cathedral in Kohima was built. Their architecture cites elements from the traditional architecture of the region. The cathedral is dedicated to Mary, Help of Christians .
