The Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil ( Latin Dioecesis Sancti Ioannis Longoliensis , French Diocèse de Saint-Jean-Longueuil ) is in Canada situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in eastern Canada.

history

The diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil was founded on June 9, 1933 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ecclesiae Universalis from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Montréal as the Diocese of Saint-Jean-de-Québec . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Montréal as a suffragan . On February 27, 1982, the diocese of Saint-Jean-de-Québec was renamed the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil .
