The diocese of Wrexham , located in Great Britain ( Latin Dioecesis Gurecsamiensis , English Diocese of Wrexham , Welsh Esgobaeth Wrecsam ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Wrexham .

The diocese was canonically established by Pope John Paul II on February 21, 1987 from areas of the Diocese of Menevia .

The diocese belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Cardiff and is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Cardiff as a suffragan . The diocesan area includes the territories of Aberconwy & Colwyn Anglesey , Denbighshire and Flintshire , Gwynedd , Wrexham and the Montgomery area .
