Bjorn Alke

Bjorn Alke (* 15. April 1938 in Sundsvall , † 31 October 2000 in Farsta ) was a Swedish jazz - bassist and composer .

Live and act

Alke studied violin at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm from 1960 to 1964 , later also piano, double bass and jazz pedagogy. From 1984 to 1987 he taught at the music school in Piteå . From 1960 he played as a bassist with Swedish and American jazz musicians; 1964 in the Staffan Abeleen Quintet ( Persepolis ). He wrote music for the feature film Calle P. and worked with Monica Zetterlund ( Monica 1967) and Lars Gullin ( Live ! , 1969). In the mid-1970s he played with Okay Temiz and Bernt Rosengren in the formation Sevda . In 1974 the album Björn Alkes Kvartett - Jazz I Sverige '74 was created , on which u. a. Fredrik Norén , Göran Strandberg and Gunnar Bergsten participated. The album Fine And Mellow followed in 1976 . He was married to Lulu Alke, on whose album Jazz In Sweden '89 (Caprice Records) he participated. Alke died in Stockholm at the age of 62.
