Bjarnfreðarson
Bjarnfreðarson is an Icelandic comedy film from the year 2009 from the Director Ragnar Bragason .
The self-contained film closes the story of Georg Bjarnfreðarson , who previously wrote the three television series Næturvaktin (“The Night Shift”, 12 episodes, 2007), Dagvaktin (“The Day Shift”, 11 episodes, 2008) and Fangavaktin (“The prison shift “, 7 episodes, 2009).

Georg Bjarnfreðarson, known as the fictional character from Ragnar Bragason's comedy series Næturvaktin , is released early from prison before serving a full ten-year sentence for manslaughter. He's still struggling with his past. In particular, his childhood and the complicated relationship with his mother is discussed in order to explain the negative development of his personality and his introspective striving for change and self-acceptance. Bjarnfreðarson's high level of education is particularly emphasized; the married father has five university degrees.

On the weekend of its premiere, the film trumped the British film Avatar, which was shown at the same time, at the Icelandic box office and grossed 1.5 million crowns . Bjarnfreðarson saw more than 20 percent of the Icelandic population . The film was shown in 17 of the 33 theaters in Iceland, a record for a domestic film.
A DVD of the film was produced in Icelandic with English and German subtitles and a detailed booklet.
reception
The film was awarded the Icelandic Edda Film Prize for best feature film in 2010 and received eleven other nominations.
