The founder and first conductor until August 2000 was the director of the music school Wolfgang Graef-Fograscher (* 1959 in Kronstadt ), who has been in charge since 1993 and who previously directed the town band and the youth band in Isny im Allgäu . He has also been the chairman of the State Committee on Youth Music since 2014 .
On July 4, 1994, the first concert was held in the Neuhaussaal of the Regensburg Theater . The original amateur orchestra is now one of the largest ensembles in the entire region and has a line-up of 60 to 70 wood and brass players as well as percussionists from the entire Eastern Bavarian region.
