Blåvandshuk Fyr is Denmark's westernmost lighthouse and stands on the headland of Blåvands Huk on the west coast of Jutland . The Lighthouse ( Danish Lighthouse ) warns the maritime front of the dangerous Horns Rev . In 1900 it replaced a smaller predecessor from 1888.
The square, tapering tower was built from concrete, measures 39 meters and has two upper floors that cantilever over the tower shaft . The ornamental frieze in the basement is set off from the white whitewash in red brick .
The rotating lens was originally powered by a clockwork that has been preserved. The light source and the lens drive have now been electrified, and the beacon works automatically. With the 1,000 watt lamp and Fresnel lens , 180,000 candelas and a range of 22 nautical miles are achieved.
The lighthouse can be visited all year round. 170 steps lead to the viewing platform. The former lighthouse keeper's house houses a tourist information office and an exhibition on the Horns Rev offshore wind farm .
A four-wire T-antenna, which is used by a DGPS transmitter, is stretched between the lighthouse and a free-standing lattice mast .
Nearby is a concrete tower that was built during the German occupation of Denmark in World War II for the naval flak of the Kriegsmarine . As part of the Atlantic Wall , the position "Bamberg" - a radio measuring device of the type FuMO 214 (" Seeriese) " - was installed for the fire control .
