Black Sunday ( English for Black Sunday ) is the second studio album by the US rap group Cypress Hill . It was released on July 19, 1993 on the labels Ruffhouse and Columbia Records . With, among other things, a three-time platinum award in the USA for more than three million copies sold, it is the group's most successful album to date.
Cover design
The album cover is sepia colored. It shows a hill littered with tombstones with a tree on top. In the foreground you can see skulls. At the top right are the words Cypress Hill and Black Sunday .

The album entered the German charts at position 87 in the 32nd calendar week of 1993. In the following weeks it rose steadily and recorded the highest rank with 36th place. In total, Black Sunday stayed in the top 100 for 27 weeks. In the USA the album climbed to the top position straight away and was able to stay in the charts for a total of 56 weeks.
As singles were Insane in the Brain (DE # 93, 3 wks.) When the Shit Goes Down , I Is not Goin 'Out Like That and Lick a shot decoupled. Insane in the Brain is one of the group's best known songs to this day and received a gold record in the USA .
