Blackshine is a Swedish metal band from Stockholm that was founded in 1988 under the name Hetsheads .
history
The band was founded in 1988 by singer and guitarist Anders Strokirk, guitarist Joakim Stabel, bassist Fredrik Holmberg and drummer Anders Freimanis in 1988 under the name Hetsheads. After she had developed enough songs and had already released a demo in 1991, her debut album We Hail the Possessed… followed in 1994 via Repulse Records . The band then changed their name to Blackshine and signed a contract with GUN Records to release the album Our Pain Is Your Pleasure , produced by former Tiamat and Lithium bassist Johnny Hagel . Before the release, the band performed for the first time in Germany .
After the album was released, a tour with UDO followed through Europe and then with Bruce Dickinson through Scandinavia . Around this time drummer Freimanis left the band and was replaced by Hakan Erisson. This could also be heard during the recordings in spring 2001 for the album Soulless & Proud . In the summer of that year the band played at Wacken Open Air and did a tour through Sweden with Entombed . In the following year, Soulless & Proud was published via SPV .
In October 2002 a tour with In Flames through Germany was planned, but Blackshine was replaced by Soilwork . Therefore, the band played as the opening act for Lacuna Coil and Sentenced instead . Stefan "Stipen" Carlsson was now represented in the band as the new drummer. After that, the band worked on a new album and recorded it under the name Lifeblood . Since the group had split up from SPV, the band looked around for a new label. After the recordings, Carlsson left the band and was replaced by Chris Barkensjö ( Kaamos ). In 2006 the album was released on Dockyard 1 .
style
The band plays a mix of Gothic Metal, Death 'n' Roll and Thrash Metal and can in some places be compared to bands like Possessed .
