According to the founding privilege of King Casimir the Great on April 25, 1366, it was founded under German law by Falko von Krosno as a new settlement in the Blizne forest ( Viro Falconi ... damus ... silvam ... dictam Blyzne ad locandum villam ). It was settled either by Poles or Germans. Later the village was mentioned as Blysne (1402), Blisna (1424), Blyzsno (1457), Blyszn (y) e (1467), z Bliznego (1595). The name is derived from the adjective blizny (German near ).
The parish and the church were only mentioned in 1470.
During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Blizne became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804). From 1855 Blizne belonged to the Brzozów District .
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Blizne came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . From 1975 to 1998 Blizne was part of the Krosno Voivodeship .
