Magdalena turns to Dr. Maximilian Bloch, because her body refuses to take in any food. She is therefore on an IV in the hospital. The young woman lives with her religiously educated and aloof parents on a farm. Bloch wants to talk to his parents, but they wall up, as does their friend Josef. When a stigma formed on Magdalena's skin, some things became clear to Bloch.
