Blockchef is the tenth solo album by the German rapper Silla . It was released on July 7, 2017 via the labels Major Movez and Universal Music as a standard edition and box set , including instrumentals and the Back am Block EP by rappers Mazen and SNA. In addition, the album appeared in Monsterbox II with the three previously released solo albums Die Passion Whiskey , Audio Anabolika and Vom Alk zum Hulk .

Cover design
The album cover is in black and white and shows Silla's face. He wears sunglasses and grills in his mouth. Two woman's hands turn his lower lip, which reveals the tattooed writing Blockchef . At the top and bottom of the picture there is also the lettering Major Movez presented and Silla in white.

In addition to Silla, other artists appear on ten songs on the album. The singer Julian Williams is involved in the songs Forever , Soldat , Barrio and Um den Block . The rappers Presto and Massiv can also be heard on the latter two . Young Cloakee has a guest appearance on Track Gang Gang , and rapper King Orgasmus One supports Silla on Fick Mutter . Blockchef entered the German album charts at number 31 on July 14, 2017 and left the top 100 the following week.
On January 15, 2017, the first music video for the song Grill Royal was released. The second video for T-800 , which was also released as a single , followed on April 7, 2017. In addition, a split video for the songs Superior and Nur nach oben was released on May 14, 2017 . The second single Barrio was released on June 23, 2017. In addition, an eleven-minute video snippet for the album was released on July 5, 2017. On the day the album was released, a music video was also released for Gun Draw and on July 14, 2017 a video for Flowerbed was released .
reception
Hana Tusch from rap.de rated Blockchef positively. It is "his best album in a long time", since Silla is "lyrically on the road with both feet again", which suits him best. The songs Gun Draw and Fick Mutter are praised, while Forever and Barrio “didn't really fit the rest of the album”.
With Lukas Maier from MZEE , Blockchef left “an average impression with a lot of positive tendencies.” In his opinion, the many feature guests reduce the overall impression of the album. "With 13 guest contributions spread over 16 songs, the actual solo album also looks more like a sampler," says the author.
