Silla Instinct is the fourth solo album by the Berlin rapper Silla . It was released on March 4, 2011 on the independent label I Luv Money Records .

History of origin

Silla's third solo album City of God was released in October 2007, and work on Silla Instinct began in the following year . In addition, the rapper released the collab album Südberlin Masculin together with Fler in August 2008 . In early 2009, Silla announced the upcoming release of Silla Instinct . He stated that he would devote himself to work on the album until the end of February and finish it by then.

Shortly afterwards it was announced that Silla was leaving his former label I Luv Money Records . According to their own statement, the album should be released on the Berlin label Aggro Berlin . Already at the end of 2008 there were rumors that Silla was under contract with Aggro Berlin after he was featured with several songs on the label sampler Aggro Anti Announcement No. 8 . However, this plan failed because Aggro Berlin closed shortly afterwards and the planned contract did not result.

As a result, it was quiet about Silla. At the beginning of 2010 a short excerpt from the album track Nur der Mond ist mein Witness with Fler and Reason appeared on the Internet . In April he had to drop his previous stage name Godsilla , because the Japanese author Tōhō , owner of the character Godzilla , turned to Silla and threatened with a name-right suit . He decided to only perform under the name Silla from now on.

The first publications under the new name followed in the form of free tracks and numerous guest contributions on albums by other rap artists. He could be heard on albums by Azad , King Orgasmus One , RAF Camora , JokA , Massiv or PA Sports. During this time, Silla founded his rap crew Schnelles Geld with JokA and MoTrip . This formation was first announced that it would be released at the end of the year, but this was quickly postponed.

In August 2010, a video message from Silla appeared in which he named October 8, 2010 as the release date. It was also announced that the album will not be released on Flers Label Maskulin Digital as previously indicated , but on Silla's former label I Luv Money Records . However, that date also passed and the album was only postponed to the end of November and then to January 2011. In addition, Silla announced that after Silla Instinct and Fast Money, the second part of the collab album Südberlin Masculin would appear with Fler.

On the night of January 20-21, Silla posted the track listing, release date and cover art for Silla Instinct .

In total, the 19 songs were written between August 2008 and January 2011. The album had to be re-pressed a few days after it was released due to the great demand.

Most of the album was produced by Djorkaeff and Beatzarre . The two Berlin producers were for the beats for 6th sense , Silla Instinkt 2011 , Streetkings , Live from Berlin , you can do it , where are you? , Dreamer / Jetlag , Deepthroat , Only the moon is my witness , Addict , Marlboro man and bird, fly! responsible. The Hanoverian hip-hop producer Abaz was responsible for the productions of gang war and In my heaven . The songs On some days and Killa were accompanied musically by Sinch . Manuel Mayer added the instrumental to the ballad I hate you to love . Raf Camora , who also appears as a singing feature on Every Day, also developed the beat for this. Versions

In addition to the regular version, there was a version with a A1 - poster , which is marked Silla instinct showed and a picture of Silla, as well as a limited to 500 copies offer the CD along with an autograph . Freetracks

Silla released a total of six free tracks in the time phase before Silla Instinct. The title Exactly , which was created in March 2009, was offered as a free download in May 2010 for the anniversary of the Fler official forum.

Two months later the song Punisher was released as an exclusive on clubbers-guide.cc. The title was originally supposed to be on the mix tape Glock in the mouth that Silla wanted to release with Fler in 2008. However, this was never published.

A short time later, 16Bars released the video for the freetrack What is rap for you? with MoTrip. The song was released as a download with all other 16Bars-Exclusives at the end of the year.

At the beginning of the third season of the web series Halt die Fresse a free Halt die Fresse Allstars song appeared, on which Silla was represented alongside numerous other rappers.

In October, shortly before the release of Haftbefehl's debut album Azzlack Stereotype , a hiphop.de exclusive with the title Columbine! out. In addition to Haftbefehl and Silla, the song also features Criz and Twin, with whom Silla recently recorded the song Illegal for his online mixtape Dreckig, Eisern & Loyal . According to Silla, the song should be published on Azzlack stereotype , but the song was removed from the album because it was otherwise index-endangered.

At the end of December, the Freetrack Kinderaugen , which was recorded in the course of work on Silla Instinct and contains a Jonesmann feature , was released as a free download. The melody in the song was played a few weeks earlier in the video of a studio session by Silla.

In February, Silla also published a ten-minute snippet by Silla Instinct , in which various tracks from the album were briefly played in order to give the listener an overall impression.

In addition, a collaborative remix of the album song Street Kings was released as an audio stream on aggroTV in early March . Silla, MoTrip, Said, KC Rebell, PA Sports, Amar, Chaker, Haftbefehl and Nazar rapped on the original beat, and Navigator sang the chorus.

Singles

Silla released the first official single Vogel, fly over I Luv Money Records on December 17th, 2010 , on which the rapper Kitty Kat can also be heard. The single was only available digitally and contained the original version as well as an instrumental version of the song. The publication missed the top 100 of the German single charts .

Videos

In February 2010 a video was released for parts of the song King . This was published on the sampler Affenzirkus - Hart und direkt . The video was released as a 3D Kinetic Typography animation. A few months later he and MoTrip published a video for the 16Bars-Exclusive What is rap for you? . The video was also shot by 16 bars.

The video for the album song Every Day with RAF Camora was released in autumn 2010 . The video was again shot by 16 bars. The video featured guest appearances by Bass Sultan Hengzt , Marc Reis , King Orgasmus One and JokA . Video scenes were shot in front of the Friedrichshain Restaurant Gobi and on the Spree .

On the day of the release of the first single Vogel, flieg , December 17th, the corresponding video was also presented. In contrast to the song, which also includes Kitty Kat , the video only shows Silla. Instead of Kitty Kat, there is a girl walking through an animated city similar to a silhouette .

In January 2011, the third video release Killa appeared with JokA and MoTrip . The video was shot by Maximilian Media Group . The video scenes were created in the Hanover-North freight yard . During the same period, Silla appeared as part of the third season of the web series Halt the face of AggroTV. There he presented his song Silla Instinct 2011 , in which Bintia appeared as a vocal feature. The location was an elevation at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. A music video for the album track Deepthroat was also published on masculin.tv on February 18 . The clip was recorded by Mozcito .

In addition, Silla was seen several times as an artist or as a guest appearance in videos of other rap artists. A video was released at the end of October for the track Time Machine by PA Sports , which appeared on their debut album Streben nach Glück in February . The video was produced by Holla at your Boyz Media Video Production and published through 16 bars. A few months earlier, in April 2010, a video for the song Fuck Tha Police by Azad , Silla and Navigator from Azad's album Azphalt Inferno II was distributed. The clip was shot under the direction of Ondro Ovesny . The accompanying single was released digitally on April 9th.

You could also see a video for the title Die Sterne, die auf's Ghetto , which appeared on Massiv's album Blut gegen Blut II , which was released on AggroTV at the end of January. A video was also made available for the title The Streets by Nicone and Silla. The clip was released on AggroTV on February 2nd. The title performed in the song appeared on Nicones debut album Nicotin . Blokkmonsta , rapper and label boss of Hirntot Records , can be seen briefly in the video .

In addition, Silla made guest appearances in the videos Beef by Raf Camora and Oldschool / Newschool by MoTrip.

In June 2012 there was also a video for the song I hate you to love .

Live performances

In October and November 2010 Silla went on the tour together with King Orgasmus One . Money doesn't matter . I-Luv-Money member JokA was also there as a special guest . The tour started on October 6th in Berlin and ended on November 20th in Solingen . In between, concerts were played in Nuremberg , Kempten , Neu-Ulm , Osnabrück , Erfurt , Augsburg , Weinheim , Cologne , Bochum , Hamburg , Braunschweig , Kassel , Stuttgart and Basel (Switzerland). Silla also played some songs from Silla Instinct in this context .

Chart success

The album entered the German album charts at number 30 for one week in the 12th calendar week of 2011 . This was the first chart placement for Silla as a solo artist and in the ten-year history of the record label I Luv Money Records .

The hip-hop magazine Juice awarded the album four out of six possible crowns. Above all, Silla's change from battle rap to more profound lyrics is noticeable. The lyrics are “sometimes melancholy to moving, like in the song for his deceased sister ('Where are you?'), Sometimes sympathetically informal like in the summer anthem 'Every Day' with RAF Camora and occasionally a bit too pathetic like in the one for Street rap the almost obligatory Du-schaffst-das-number, which on this album is called 'Du schaffst das' for the sake of simplicity. "The battle tracks mostly serve their purpose, but occasionally overshoot the mark. In the song Deepthorat you don't want to "listen so closely because of the subject matter". The samples of coughing and gasping women are also rather wrong. The productions were described as almost entirely successful, but the guest contributions were partly superfluous. Some titles sound more like filler material. Overall, however , Silla instinct has no total failures and knows how to convince despite some weaknesses.

The website rappers.in described Silla Instinct as the artist's most personal and best work to date and rated the album with five out of six possible microphones. The titles I hate to love you and Some days were especially highlighted. However, the battletracks like Live from Berlin and Silla Instinkt 2011 were positively mentioned. Some weaker titles like Du schaffst das , which was dismissed by editor Tony Sunshine as a "boring head-up song par excellence with an inaudible hook" were negatively mentioned . The guest posts on Silla Instinct were also criticized, "with the exception of the supposedly weaker sex and MoTrip, they are all treated as very nice - but by no means as necessary". On the other hand, the “high quality beats with recognition value” were praised.

The Berlin rapper Sido wrote a short comment on each track on the Twitter platform and rated Silla Instinct overall as a good album .
