history

Bluebird Aviation was founded in Kenya in 1992. It is headquartered and based at Nairobi Wilson International Airport and employs over 80 people. Chairman of the Company is located in the retired located Colonel HA Farah, of 25 years at the Kenya Air Force had served.

Destinations

Bluebird Aviation serves several Kenyan destinations from Nairobi as well as destinations in various African countries. It also operates charter flights and emergency flights for medical emergencies .

Incidents

  • On May 23, 2004, about 30 kilometers south of Mwingi (Kenya), there was an air collision between two Let L-410 transport aircraft operated by Bluebird Aviation. The aircraft with the aircraft registration number 5Y-VVD crashed into an open field after the collision, killing the crew of two pilots. The second involved machine with the aircraft registration 5Y-VVA was able to land safely despite severe damage. Both machines were on their way from Nairobi to Mogadishu . The crashed machine transported 55 bags of Miraa weighing around 1500  kg .
  • On November 9, 2009, a Beechcraft 1900 transport aircraft crashed while approaching Nairobi Wilson Airport. The aircraft with the registration number 5Y-VVQ had taken off from Nairobi Wilson and was supposed to transport Miraa to Mogadishu. Due to a technical problem that occurred during the flight, the crew consisting of two pilots decided to return to Wilson Airport. Shortly before landing, the machine brushed the fence around the airport and crashed, killing a pilot.
  • On July 14, 2020, a Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 transport aircraft crashed while approaching Beledweyne-Ugas Khalif Airport. The aircraft with the aircraft registration number 5Y-VVU collided with a donkey, which was standing on the runway. Thereupon a fire broke out in the machine and the 3 crew members were able to escape, slightly injured.
