Theodor Schütze

Alexander Theodor Schütze ( Upper Sorbian Božidar Šěca ; born January 15, 1900 in Rachlau near Bautzen , † April 16, 1986 in Großpostwitz ) was a Sorbian- German local researcher, teacher, freelance local writer, botanist and leader of various working groups.

Life

His father was the Sorbian naturalist Karl Traugott Schütze (Korla Bohuwěr Šěca) and his mother Anna Emilia nee. Albert. He had four siblings: Johann Georg (* 1883), Anna Theresia (* 1886), Georg Marko (* 1888) and Peter Wladimir (* 1894).

Before the Second World War he worked as a teacher. After 1945 he was a district monument curator in the Bautzen district and inventoried and documented many architectural and art monuments in the Bautzen district. In 1958 he joined the scientific working group Oberlausitz and was involved in associations and organizations.

He was honored for his work with the Johannes R. Becher Medal in gold and in 1968 with the Leibniz Medal of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR .
