history
The place was first mentioned as Rachlow in the 14th century . To distinguish it from Rachlau bei Wittichenau , the forms Rachla am Berge (1543) and Rachel im Gebirge (1748) appear in the meantime . In 1875 the alternative name Albertsrachlau is recorded.
In the first half of the 20th century, the majority of the residents of Rachlau were Sorbian-speaking. The scientist Arnošt Muka had 225 inhabitants in 1884/85, of whom 219 were Sorbs .
Until 1974, Rachlau was an independent rural community with the districts Döhlen, Pielitz and Großkunitz (since 1936) and Weißig (since 1950). Then it was incorporated into Kubschütz.
