geography

The settlement extends directly south of the Bautzen-Litten airfield along the road leading from Bautzen to Reichenbach in largely flat terrain.

history

Neupurschwitz was created at the beginning of the 19th century on the Chaussee from Bautzen via Reichenbach to Görlitz. In 1802 Peter Stephan built a house on the southern border of the Purschwitz manor floor, for which he applied to the Bautzen council for a license two years later. After the Battle of Bautzen, Napoléon Bonaparte pitched his tent next to the inn and stayed there from May 21 to 22, 1813. Gradually, a row of houses was built on the north side of the Chaussee to expand the Purschwitz estate. Other houses, including a toll collection , were built on Baschützer Flur.

Neupurschwitz was never independent and mostly belonged to the community Purschwitz , where the parish was located. Together with Purschwitz, Neupurschwitz became part of the Kubschütz community in 1994.
