Boardriders, Inc. (until 2017: Quiksilver, Inc. ) is an American corporation. The company is active in the outdoor sports sector and owns several fashion brands , such as Quiksilver , Roxy and DC Shoes . The headquarters are in Huntington Beach . The European headquarters are located in France on the Atlantic coast of Aquitaine in Saint-Jean-de-Luz . In addition to surfboards , it mainly produces clothing for surfing and related board sports ( skating and snowboarding ) and is the world market leader in this area. Quiksilver sponsors various well-known snowboarders, surfers and skaters such as E.g. the eleven-time world champion Kelly Slater , the professional snowboarders Travis Rice , Hampus Mosesson and Mathieu Crepel and the professional skater Tony Hawk . In Germany, Quiksilver operates its own retail shops and three outlet shops. In 2008 the first Roxy shop opened in Hameln . There have been further franchise shops in other German cities since October 2008.

Quiksilver was founded by Bob McKnight and Jeff Hakman in Australia in 1969.

In 2005 Quiksilver merged with the winter and alpine sports goods manufacturer Rossignol . In November 2008 Quiksilver completed the sale of the Rossignol Group.

On September 9, 2015, Quiksilver filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy . At the same time, the stock plunged 78%. As a result of the bankruptcy proceedings, Quiksilver was sold to Oaktree Capital Management .

2017, the company has named Boardriders, Inc. has to offer. A year later, the Billabong company was taken over.
