history

The core of Boitwarden is a mound endorf. It was first mentioned in the founding document of the St. Paul Monastery in Bremen from 1150 as a parish "Beitheswarden". The name comes from "boyten", which means "outside". In this case outside the Wurt, namely the older Wurt Golzwarden . Another documentary mention comes from the year 1332, when a "judex de boytwarden" occurs. Boitwarden was on the border between Stedingen and Rüstringen , this is where the Battle of Boitwarden took place.
