Boris Guckelsberger (* 1968 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German composer and guitarist .

Life

From 1980 to 1989 Guckelsberger worked in music groups of various styles such as jazz , jazz rock , rock , punk , funk , classical Arabic music, as well as Arabic “ pop music ” as a guitarist ( electric or concert guitar ), bass guitarist , double bass player , drummer and keyboard player . Since 1984 he has been teaching guitar as a private teacher, later also piano, theory and composition.

1986-1993 he completed a study of the (graduate music teacher for classical guitar) at the Johannes Brahms Conservatory in Hamburg . In 1993 he graduated from the Hamburg University of Music and Theater (obtaining a diploma). Since 1990 he has been active as a soloist and in an ensemble across Europe. From 1992 to 1997 he studied composition and theory at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater with Alfred Schnittke and Frank Corcoran .

Guckelsberger's works have been performed internationally since 1985. He was also a co-founder of the “New Music in Exchange” project and received commissioned compositions from individual performers, ensembles and the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). From 1997 to 1999 he studied composition, instrumentation and electro-acoustic music at the Lübeck University of Music with Friedhelm Döhl , Viktor Suslin and Dirk Reith . In 1999 he received his diploma in composition. Since 1998 he has been working with Medien Kontor Hamburg and befoco Verlag Leipzig (CD and sheet music publications of his own compositions). Since 2003 he has been a freelancer for Norddeutscher Rundfunk.
