Borkou (also Borku in German-language literature ) is a region of Chad and corresponds to the former prefecture of the same name. Its capital is Faya-Largeau . The region has about 97,000 inhabitants (2009). The region was created on February 19, 2008 by spinning off the former Borkou-Ennedi-Tibesti region.

Borkou is in the north of the country. The climate is dry and hot (desert climate). Much of the region is in the Sahara , the northwest in the Tibesti Mountains . The southern part is in the Sahel zone .

Another town besides Faya-Largeau is Kirdimi .
