Bornmühlschleife is a district of the town of Pfreimd in the Schwandorf district .

geography

The remote Bornmühlschleife is located in the middle Upper Palatinate Forest , about 2 km southeast of Trausnitz at an altitude of 420 meters at the foot of the Kühberg (526 m). The wasteland lies on the Gleiritsch , which flows into the Pfreimd near Trausnitz . The place can be reached via the district road SAD 35, exit towards Fuchsendorf.

history

In the Middle Ages, mills, small cutting saws, hammer mills such as Kaltenthal and glass grinding machines that made use of the power of water were built along the watercourses . The water power of the Gleiritsch served the Bornmühlschleife to operate a glass polishing machine and a cutting saw. The area of the Upper Palatinate was well developed by trunk roads. Coming from Regensburg, one of the oldest trade routes led through the Naab valley via Schwarzenfeld to Nabburg , Pfreimd and Eger in Central Germany. Furthermore, the Magdeburger Strasse ran via Luhe and Neustadt an der Waldnaab to the Wismar Bay, as described by Claudius Ptolemy from Alexandria in the 2nd century. The road ran from Nuremberg to Nabburg in a west-east direction, then on to Schönsee and Bischofteinitz in Bohemia, the names of which are Saustraß or Sautreibergasse (between Weidenthal and the border near Dietersdorf) referring to the transport of cattle. Although well connected in terms of transport technology, the small businesses had no long-term prospects, as they could not withstand the pressure of competition due to a lack of merger.

Community membership

The Einöde Bornmühlschleife is listed in the official register for Bavaria from 1950, issue 169, with the note that the name has not yet been officially awarded. On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Hohentreswitz was incorporated into the city of Pfreimd and with it the Bornmühlschleife came to Pfreimd.
