The Borthschen Ley is an 8.20 km long river with the code number 279112. The partly dry stream flows from Borth in a westerly direction past the Borth salt mine and the Menzelener lakes towards Poll . South of Ginderich , the Breite Wardtley flows into the Borthesche Ley before it joins the Schwarzen Graben and finally flows into the Old Rhine at Unterbirten in the Bislicher Insel nature reserve . Part of the stream forms the border between the Wesel districts of Büderich and Ginderich with the Rheinberg district of Borth and the Alpine district of Menzelen .
The lowland complex is rich in structure; it is predominantly characterized by grassland, hedges and head trees .
A project is currently being launched that will allow the discharge of rainwater from Borth u. a. in the Borthsche Ley and provides for the creation of irrigation areas. In addition to flood protection , the aim is also natural development and an increase in the quality of life.
