The Brönnhof (earlier spelling Brönhof ) is a modern Hofwüstung in the district of Schweinfurt in the field of community Üchtelhausen . The Brönnhof desert is located in the middle of the much larger Brönnhof area of ​​the same name and was named after it.

Geographical location

The desert lies in the Schweinfurt Rhön at 365 m above sea level. NN and today belongs to the Üchtelhausen district of Weipoltshausen . It is located in the middle of a 3.2 km² clearing island , which formed the core of the 26 km² training area of ​​the US Army Brönnhof, which was abandoned in 2014 . A large part of it became Bavaria 's largest National Natural Heritage (NNE) in 2016 .

history

The Brönnhof belonged to the Teutonic Order . The Brönnhof was later a community-free area and was connected to the Üchtelhausen district of Weipoltshausen as part of the Bavarian regional reform in 1972 . The US Army Garrison Schweinfurt (USAG Schweinfurt) set up a training area here around 1960. At the latest now the Brönnhof became a desert.

Description of the farm

The manor had a central, larger square, which was surrounded by the manor house , seven side houses ( servants' houses , stables, barns), two gardens and orchards . From the courtyard, twelve paths and corridors led in a star shape in all directions.

The desert is managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation as a ground monument D-6-5827-0039 Modern courtyard desert "Brönnhof" (as of September 2, 2017).

In terms of size, arrangement and large, central square, the courtyard was similar to the buildings of Gut Deutschhof, which also once belonged to the Teutonic Order and still exist today . It is also in the west of the Schweinfurt Rhön .
