Brothers is a German short film by the director Türker Süer from 2012.

action

After his father dies, the lawyer Cengiz takes his brother Savaş out of prison for a day. The family's grief work is overshadowed by the father's gambling debts to the criminal Murat. When he asks for the two brothers, their already tense relationship is completely strained. Savaş wants to finish his old, illegal life and is reluctant. When Cengiz can finally persuade him to come, Murat demands of Savaş that he should personally work off the debts from him, otherwise he will get the money from his family - which would mean the ruin of Cengiz and his mother.

background

The film was shot in January and February 2011. The co-production by the Art Academy for Media Cologne and Pi Filmproduktion was funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW with 25,000 euros.

Festivals

The film premiered on January 19, 2012 as part of the Max Ophüls Prize film festival in Saarbrücken , where it took part in the competition for the best short film.

Awards

In 2012, Brüder was nominated for the First Steps film award in the category of short and animated films up to approx. 25 minutes .

The film was given the title “particularly valuable” by the German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) .
