Kasem Hoxha
Kasem Hoxha (born August 12, 1968 in Tirana , Albania ) is a German- Albanian actor .
Life
Family and escape
Hoxha was born in the Albanian capital Tirana during the communist-Stalinist dictatorship under Enver Hoxha . He grew up there with his family as one of five children in very poor circumstances and experienced the arbitrariness of the Hoxha regime. As a child, Hoxha wanted to be an actor. Between the ages of four and six, Hoxha lived with his grandparents for family reasons; he always returned to his family at the beginning of school. His father died of lung cancer when Kasem Hoxha was a child. At the age of 16, Hoxha went to boarding school. At that time he was also consciously concerned with the political situation in Albania for the first time.
From 1988 he did his two years military service in northern Albania; he was stationed in the middle of the mountains in the northernmost part of the country. Because of his skills and dexterity in Morse code and telegraphing , he was employed in the telegraph station. At the beginning of July 1990, immediately after his discharge from military service, he joined a political protest and resistance group and fled as a politically persecuted person to the German embassy in Tirana , where he spent about a week, sometimes without food and drinks and without health or medical care Supplying thousands of others in a confined space in isolation from the outside world. With a refugee transport organized by NATO he was on the 8th / 9th. July 1990 brought to the port city of Durrës , 40 kilometers away , where it first took a ferry across the Adriatic to Brindisi , Italy . He then took trains via Switzerland to Germany. His first stop in Germany was Regensburg , where he stayed for a month. Then he came to Aschaffenburg .
He got his first job together with some compatriots in the paper mill in Aschaffenburg / Damm, where he was initially hired for cleaning work. He later switched to a papermaker within the company. In 1993 he met his girlfriend and later life partner, whose family encouraged him in his further development, especially for acting. Hoxha finally completed an apprenticeship as a dental technician .
Education and theater
However, Hoxha wanted to continue to be an actor. From 1999 to 2002 he finally did an acting training with the Actor's Company in Aschaffenburg ; There he completed an acting seminar with the director Torsten Stoll, who later became his acting teacher, in order to determine his artistic aptitude for the profession. In 1999 he also completed a seminar in Method Acting ( Lee Strasberg / Uta Hagen ) with John Costopoulos at the Actor's Studio in New York City .
From 2000 to 2004 he had nationwide theater engagements. a. in Death of a Salesman (as Willy Loman; director: Torsten Stoll), Die Kaktusblüte (as Norbert and Herr Cochet; director: Susanne Frey), Minna von Barnhelm (as host, director: Jurek Makarowsk) and in the gangster comedy Treue or Hochtseitstag by Chazz Palminteri (Director: Torsten Stoll).
Movie and TV
Hoxha now works almost exclusively for film and television. He is often used in crime and action films in the role of evil.
He had his first film role, while still at the drama school, in a diploma film from the Art Academy for Media Cologne (KHM Cologne). His first television role was in 2005 in the RTL action series Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei . In the movie cell (2007) he played the Bosnian "Sarajevo", who suffers from his experiences in the Bosnian war . In the Vienna Tatort crime thriller Operation Hiob (2010) he played Dr. Ziu, a Kosovar Albanian and head of the drug syndicate. In the feature film Murat B. - Verloren in Deutschland (2011) he played a supporting role as Mr. Okic.
In the movie Guardian Angel (2012), with Til Schweiger as director and leading actor, he played a contract killer (watcher), who is finally shot by Schweiger. For this purpose, Hoxha and other actors had to complete a professional, multi-week gun training course with Paul Maurice ( CIA / Special Unit USA) before the shooting .
After a casting in Berlin , Hoxha received the role of girl trafficker Amed, a friend of the Astan clan, through caster Emrah Ertem in the first crime scene crime thriller Willkommen in Hamburg (first broadcast March 2013) by investigator duo Nick Tschiller (Til Schweiger) and Yalcin Gümer ( Fahri Yardım ). He then played this role in the second Tschiller case, Tatort: bounty , this time as an imprisoned Astan buddy.
In the television film Das Assentat - Sarajevo 1914 (2014) he played the police officer Fritz Stadler. In 2014 he took on a small guest role as a pyrotechnician in the tragic comedy Honey in the head of Til Schweiger.
Hoxha also had episode roles in the TV series GSG 9 - Your Mission is Your Life (2007, as a mercenary Dragan), Notruf Hafenkante (2009), Ein Fall für Zwei (2010), SOKO Vienna (2010; 2013 as Russian Russian-Georgian Mafioso Ivan Fetissow) and cheerful to fatal: Koslowski & Haferkamp (2014).
In October 2015, Hoxha was seen in a supporting role in the ZDF crime series Wilsberg ; he played the discotheque owner Manu. (2020), Hoxha took on one of the main roles in the episode as the convicted bank robber Timo Jacobs, who is suspected of murdering the Cologne crime director Christina Fehrmann.
Private
In August 2015, Hoxha supported his friend and fellow actor Til Schweiger when a shit storm hit Facebook and the Internet on the occasion of the planned construction of a refugee home . In an e-mail to Schweiger, which he then published, Hoxha reported in moving words about his own escape and backed Schweiger for his plans.
Hoxha lives in Cologne .
