From a coffee house in Vienna , Luc, newly in love with Karina, wants to go buy cigarettes. On the way to the tobacconist's shop , he notices an apartment that is on fire and is motioned by some police officers to show his papers and empty his pockets, where the lighter he needs as a smoker appears. He is taken to a cell where he meets a sleeping homeless man and is questioned by the police for the next two days.
