The Brauhaus am Kreuzberg is a beer brewery and distillery on the Kreuzberg near Hallerndorf ( Forchheim district ) and one of the three beer cellars there .

history

The Friedel family of brewers received their own coat of arms in 1461 in the Hallerndorfer district of Schnaid . The original brewery at Schnaid 10 has been leased to the Gänstaller brewery since 2011 . The associated brewery tavern is still run by the Friedel family. Since the completion of the new building on the Kreuzberg in 2007, brewing has been taking place in the brewery's beer cellar directly below the pilgrimage church .

In addition to his wife and master brewer Luitgard Friedel-Winkelmann, Norbert Winkelmann is responsible for the brewery's beers . The butcher, cook, hotel manager, beer sommelier and distiller regularly brews special beers, so that there are usually eight different types of beer available on tap .

Types of beer

There is always at least one Bock beer , several light beers and beers made from special types of grain (e.g. Haferla , rye beer ).

Pilgrim drink

The Brauhaus am Kreuzberg has been serving its pilgrim drink since 2010. This seven- grain beer consists of barley , wheat , rye , emmer , einkorn , oats and spelled . 50 cents of every liter drunk on the Kreuzberg are donated to a good cause every year. In 2010 the brewery supported the renovation of the pilgrimage church, and in 2011 the four kindergartens in Hallerndorf were able to implement various projects with the donation. In 2012, the Eichstatt Bishop Gregor Maria Hanke brewed the pilgrim drink. The proceeds were intended for missionary aid in Brazil. In 2013 the monks from Kreuzberg in the Rhön brewed the pilgrim drink together with the Upper Franconian Kreuzbergers. In 2015, an ecumenical beer was created with the new pilgrim drink.

distillery

The more than 100 fine brandies from the distillery at Kreuzberg have received numerous awards in recent years. In addition to DLG gold medals, including several with full points, the award of the Federal Honorary Prize in silver (2010) and gold (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) are in the foreground.

Beer cellar

The beer cellar of the Friedel brewery is on the Hallerndorfer Kreuzberg. The pilgrims on the Way of St. James were among the regulars. With the new building in 2007, the brewery and distillery were also relocated to the beer cellar, which has since operated as the Brauhaus am Kreuzberg or Erlebnisbierkeller.
