The Breitenbach is a seven kilometer long, southern and right tributary of the Mümling in the Hessian Odenwald .

The Breitenbach rises at a height of about 270 m above sea level. NHN in Breitenbrunn . It flows in a northerly direction and is first fed on its left by the Goldbach and then to the right by the Lützelbach.
At Neustadt the Breitenbach finally flows out at an altitude of about 145 m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Mümling .
Its 7.2 km long run ends about 125 meters below its source, so it has an average bottom gradient of about 17 ‰.
Catchment area
The 19.14 km² catchment area of the Breitenbach lies in the sandstone forest and is drained to the North Sea via the Mümling, Main and Rhine rivers.
It borders
- in the northeast to that of the Mümling tributary Raibach
- in the east to that of the Mutterbach tributary of the Main
- in the south to that of the Kimbach , another tributary of the Mümling
- in the southwest to that of the Fürstengrunder Bach , also a Mümling tributary
- and in the west to that of the small Mümling tributary Obrunngraben .
A large part of the catchment area is forested, in the floodplain grassland dominates, otherwise there are arable land and smaller localities.
