Breitenborn / Lützel is the smallest district of the municipality of Biebergemünd in the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse .

location

Breitenborn / Lützel is surrounded by forest in the Spessart Nature Park in the Lützelbachtal . The federal road 276 , the German Alps – Baltic Sea holiday route , runs north of the village .

history

Breitenborn / Lützel was created in 1753 when the hamlet of Lützel and the village of Breitenborn were merged. At that time, Breitenborn / Lützel was part of the Bieber office of the County of Hanau-Münzenberg , which itself had belonged to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel again since 1736 . In 1821 there was a fundamental administrative reform in the former Landgraviate, now known as the Electorate of Hesse . The Bieber office - and with it Breitenborn / Lützel - was added to the newly formed Gelnhausen district.

On October 1, 1971, the municipality of Breitenborn AB, together with the municipalities of Lanzingen and Roßbach, was incorporated into the municipality of Bieber as part of the regional reform in Hesse , which in turn has formed the (new) municipality of Biebergemünd since July 1, 1974 together with Biebergemünd. On the same day, the Gelnhausen district was incorporated into the Main-Kinzig district.

The area of ​​the former municipality of Breitenborn AB was 9.33 km².
