Brenda Martinez (born September 8, 1987 ) is an American middle-distance runner .
Starting for the University of California, Riverside , she was NCAA vice-champion in the 1,500 m in 2009 . In 2012, she was US runner-up in the hall over the same distance and won the Fifth Avenue Mile .
The following year she was US runner-up in the 800 m and won bronze at the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow.
